Our History & Legacy

The history of Bazm Ahbab e Tonk Karachi is deeply intertwined with the princely state of Tonk. Tonk was unique—a state ruled by Nawabs, renowned for its architectural beauty and Islamic learning. It was a beacon of Urdu literature and culture.

During the tumultuous Partition of 1947, a large portion of the Muslim populace migrated to the newly formed Pakistan. Our forefathers carried the distinct culture of Tonk—the polite language, the love for poetry, and a refined way of life—to the city of Karachi. This community was formed to ensure that while the geography changed, the spirit of Tonk remained alive.
